When first i tested this av, i am just speechless. I've never seen this type of security in many days. I have to admit that after Kaspersky this is first av that actually surprised me. I would recommend this av to all. Basically it has 3 versions. First is Free anti virus which gives basic protection to PC for free till one year. It has basic av engine with anti spy-ware which is enough for almost everyone. Second is Pro anti virus which personally i don't recommend to users because it has less features than Internet Security version. If you want to pay for anti-virus why not Internet Security? Otherwise use free anti virus. Its also good and there is no any difference between anti virus and defense engines. The Pro av comes with Silent Firewall which is very good. It also includes some new feature called WebRep™ which far good than Norton's utility. It actually check's not only website address but also hyperlinks within the web page. Another new exciting feature is SafeZone™ which actually created virtual environment (desktop) to avoid spy-wares and key-loggers. It helps to perform sensitive transactions through internet. This is first time that av creates full virtual environment for important tasks. As Kaspersky it has Sandbox™ feature which is extended to Auto-Sandbox™ which able to run suspicious application in semi-virtual environment automatically. Last but not least memory consumption question. It uses following resources (Internet Sec)
afwServ.exe - around 8000k memory (it is basic service exe for all avast utilities)
AvastSvc.exe - around 6000k memory (it is extended service exe for avast utilities)
AvastUI.exe - around 8000k memory (for user interface of av)
Aggregate total is 22000-24000 which is very low consumption for any PC. Computer works as it has no any anti virus installed. Only problem is its f***ing expensive. It costs almost 50$. But if you are security freak then as compared to product its good deal. Otherwise for blog readers there is a key till 2050!!! I hope you will enjoy it.
